In designing our SONAR Big Water Taper series, we had one specific goal in mind: to create the world’s strongest fly line. Built on the industry’s first 100-lb. monofilament core, the SONAR Titan BWT Max Sink is built for the blue-water beasts of your dreams (or nightmares). With a super-fast sinking head and a core capable of pulling semi trucks from the depths (hyperbole), this is a line for 15-weight rods and fish that weigh more than you do.

  • Loads quickly and delivers the biggest flies to the furthest targets
  • Excellent turnover due to short, powerful head and short front taper
  • Specially designed for tropical environments
  • Shooting Texture reduces friction, providing longer casts, easier pick-up, and increased durability
  • Built on a 100-lb. monofilament core for tropical climates
  • Sink Rate: Sink 6 = 6.0+ ips

Meet the Scientific Anglers Line Identification System. SA•ID is an innovative line-marking system allowing you to identify your lines at a glance. Wonder if a shooting head is 200 grain or a 300? Just look at the SA•ID. The SA•ID can be found on the first 1-2 feet of the tip section of your line.

For every one fish eating on top, there are ten feeding beneath it. Our SONAR sinking technology takes flies to where the fish are: beneath the surface. Using proprietary tungsten formulations and unique tapering, the SONAR sinking technology gets flies down, and keeps them there.

In the development of lines that could stand up against fish such as arapaima or giant trevally, we realized the first thing we had to do was strengthen the core. And strengthen it we did. Lines featuring our 100-lb. core have a super-strong single-strand monofilament core designed to handle the hottest environments and the biggest fish.

Much like our patented Advanced Shooting Technology, the ST+ is an integrated slickness additive built into the coatings of our fly lines, providing continual line slickness as the coating continues to wear. The ST+ additive enhances the slickness of fly lines even more than AST, and lines with ST+ shoot farther and float higher than any lines ever have before.

The Scientific Anglers Shooting Texture features precisely replicated hemispherical divots, similar to those found on a golf ball’s surface. This evolution of our texturing technology has less texture on its surface so it feels like a traditional fly line but performs with the benefits of texturing. The result is a line that lasts longer, floats higher, casts easier, and, most importantly, fishes better.
