European Scott Flyrod Warranty
Flyfish Europe AS (FFE), as the authorized European distributor of SCOTT products, provides the commercial warranty for SCOTT products sold in Europe. The warranties described below are offered and administered by FFE and apply in addition to any statutory consumer rights applicable in the country of purchase.
LIFETIME WARRANTY – Graphite and Fiberglass Rods
FFE provides a Lifetime Commercial Warranty on SCOTT Graphite and Fiberglass fly rods against defects in materials and workmanship, subject to the terms and conditions below.
The FFE Lifetime Commercial Warranty applies to the original owner of the rod.
To qualify for the FFE Lifetime Commercial Warranty, the rod must either:
• be registered on the FFE website within 30 days of the original date of purchase; or
• be supported by reasonable proof of purchase establishing the original date and place of purchase.
The registration must be completed through the SCOTT warranty registration form available on the FFE website.
Where a rod has not been registered on the FFE website within 30 days of purchase and the customer cannot provide reasonable proof of purchase, the FFE Lifetime Commercial Warranty does not apply.
Registration is therefore particularly important where the original proof of purchase may no longer be available.
The Lifetime Commercial Warranty does not cover loss or theft, transport damage, intentional damage, neglect, misuse, normal wear and tear, or cosmetic deterioration that does not affect the rod's function.
Where a claim is approved under the FFE Lifetime Commercial Warranty, FFE will, at its discretion, repair or replace the defective rod, section or applicable component, subject to the applicable warranty terms. Replacement parts, components, colours or finishes may differ from the original product where necessary.
SIX-MONTH UNCONDITIONAL WARRANTY
In addition to the FFE Lifetime Commercial Warranty described above, FFE provides an unconditional six-month commercial warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for the original owner.
A reasonable proof of purchase establishing the date and place of purchase is required for this warranty.
Where a claim is approved under the six-month warranty, FFE covers the applicable repair and return shipping costs in accordance with the warranty procedure.
Warranty Registration and Proof of Purchase
Registration of the rod on the FFE website within 30 days of the original purchase date is an important requirement for the FFE Lifetime Commercial Warranty.
If the rod is not registered on the FFE website within 30 days, the customer must provide reasonable proof of purchase in order to establish eligibility for the Lifetime Commercial Warranty.
The customer does not necessarily have to provide the original sales receipt where the purchase can reasonably be established by other evidence, such as an invoice, order confirmation, bank or credit card transaction record, or other documentation that reasonably establishes the purchase.
FFE may require reasonable evidence of purchase before processing a claim under the FFE commercial warranty.
The registration and proof-of-purchase requirements apply to the FFE commercial warranty and do not limit, exclude or replace any mandatory statutory consumer rights applicable in the country of purchase.
WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS
The FFE commercial warranty does not cover:
• loss or theft;
• damage occurring during transportation;
• intentional or deliberate damage;
• misuse, abuse or neglect;
• failure to properly care for or maintain the rod;
• normal wear and tear;
• cosmetic deterioration that does not affect functionality; or
• damage resulting from modifications or repairs not carried out by FFE, SCOTT or an authorised service provider, where such modification or repair has caused or contributed to the damage or prevents proper assessment of the claim.
The commercial warranty does not cover damage that is consistent with normal use or the ordinary service life of the product.
SCOTT ROD BLANKS
SCOTT rod blanks are manufactured to the same standards as SCOTT factory-built rods. However, the FFE commercial warranty does not cover components or workmanship added by a customer or third-party rod builder.
Any warranty assessment of a custom-built rod is therefore limited to the SCOTT-manufactured blank itself.
SCOTT SPLIT CANE RODS
FFE provides a one-year commercial warranty on SCOTT Split Cane rods against defects in materials and workmanship.
The warranty applies to the original owner and requires reasonable proof of purchase.
Any modification, alteration or repair carried out by anyone other than FFE, SCOTT or an authorised service provider may void the commercial warranty where it has caused or contributed to the damage or prevents proper assessment of the claim.
OLDER SCOTT RODS
SCOTT rods with serial numbers below 35,000, generally dating from before approximately 1994, are not covered by the current FFE SCOTT commercial warranty programme.
Non-Warranty Repairs
If a rod or component is found not to be covered by the FFE commercial warranty, FFE may offer a non-warranty repair or replacement service where possible.
Any applicable handling, repair, replacement and return-shipping charges will be communicated before the work is carried out.
WARRANTY CLAIMS
Warranty claims should normally be submitted through the dealer from whom the product was purchased. The product must be made available for inspection and assessment by FFE.
FFE reserves the right to determine whether a product or component is covered by the applicable FFE commercial warranty based on the condition of the product, the nature and cause of the damage, and the applicable warranty terms.
The FFE SCOTT commercial warranty is a voluntary commercial warranty provided by Flyfish Europe AS for SCOTT products sold in Europe. It is provided in addition to, and does not affect, any statutory consumer rights that may apply under the laws of the country of purchase.
